Why #EFCCArrestCrookJibrinNOW trends on twittter

For over a week now, there have been a lot of topics, tweets, and posts on the social media about Mr. Jibrin Abdumumin the former appropriation committee chairman in the national house of representatives  and the speaker of the house Mr. Yakubu Dogara.

Jibrin had earlier exposed the speaker as the mastermind behind the padding of the federal budget that caused so much controversy before it was signed. In the exposition by Jibrin, it was gathered that almost 500 billion naira was padded to the budget by the principal officers of the house including the deputy speaker and the clerk. Amidst all these controversies, the speaker had said that he was innocent and that Jibrin didn't know what he was talking about. After the speaker said that, Jibrin released a bombsheell and showed pictures of one of the various guest houses/hotels Mr speaker has in abundance in Abuja.

One of Dogara's guest houses
Shortly after this picture was released to the public by Jibrin, APC quickly called a meeting to broker peace between the two gentlemen (or gentle thieves) but from all indications, the meeting was to no avail as the exposition continued after the meeting. Dogara had maintained that Jibrin was out to taint his image because he sacked him as chairman of the (mis)appropriation committee while Jibrin countered by saying that he left at his own will and that he is a man of integrity.
Soon after these hotel pictures surfaced on the social media, Nigerians started clamouring for the anti-corruption agencies to swing into action and arrest both Jibrin and Dogara since Jibrin supported the padding when he was the chairman of the committee and he was one of the people who criticized the president for not signing the budget early enough. Seeing that the he was becoming a villain in the eyes of the executive and masses, other members of the assembly decided to pass a vote of confidence on the speaker but as soon as he got wind of the plan, Jibrin voiced out again that each member was bribed with $25,000 in order for them to give their votes of confidence on the speaker - that dealt a great blow to the vote of confidence plan.

Thereafter, the snap of a whats app chat between Jibrin and Sahara Reporters was released by 'God knows who'

A purpoted whatsapp discussion between Jibrin and Sahara Reporters
....then on the 4th of August in the year 2016, twitter Nigeria trended the topic #EFCCArrestCrookJibrinNOW.

My Opinion:

#EFCCArrestCrookJibrinNOW is a useless and shameful trend. It shows how cheap some Nigerians can sell their souls for token. Obviously, this trend was supposed to make EFCC jump on their feet, go to Jibrin's house, arrest him and then leave Dogara out of the arrest galore. If Jibrin is such a pain in the ass of Mr speaker, why doesnt he just sue the man to court for libel as he promised at the beginning of all these crises? As far as I and many Nigerians are concerned, Dogara should resign honourably even if that is the only honourable thing he will do since he assumed office. But then, it is very unlikely since his 'oga at the top' in the senate has refused to resign in the midst of worse accusations and crises.  Nigeria is in for a big ride from the crooks we call politicians and saving us might  require a divine intervention from above.

Aso Rock

And to think that human beings can actually rule over human beings.
Nigeria is a diverse country just like the United States of America. Democracy appears to work for the USA but tends to pull us back here in Nigeria. We choose our leaders based on either tribal or religious sentiments. Corruption has become so infectious that people hardly trust one another anymore. In fact, it is now a general belief that everyone has a price. The more honest and upright you prove to be, the more money they bring forth to buy you.
The case of (dis)honourable Farouk Lawan and the business mogul Femi Otedola is one perfect example of the sorry case that Nigeria has become over the years.
Why has the presidency kept quiet on this issue?
Where is the supposedly marked money given to Farouk?
Where is the Judiciary in this case?
This single case should have been the one utilised by Aso Rock to win back the hearts of Nigerians to show them that the fight against corruption is huge and knows no one by prosecuting the 'holier than thou' (dis)honourable and Mr Femi if he is found culpable too. Then you remember that the agency that tackles corruption is owned by the ruling party, the men involved belong to the same party, Aso rock belongs to this party and the Judiciary belong to them too. This party cares less about its members' kleptomania, it just wants to arrest and prosecute as many of the poor on the streets as possible.
I am even disappointed in myself for believing that the same Aso Rock that has refused to declare its assets as stipulated by the constitution whose rules they all swore to uphold by the Bible and the Qur'an can tackle corruption. The same Aso Rock that doesn't 'give a damn' about what we say about it. We should all start asking questions, we can't keep smiling until they mete out injustice on us too before we rise up and make them accountable to us. We are Nigerians and Aso Rock is nothing without us.
